Most gel manicures fail at the cuticle. We spend nearly half the appointment on prep, which is why the colour stays put through a normal week.
The session starts with a dry cuticle tidy rather than a soak, because water swells the nail plate and it shrinks back once dried, and that is exactly where lifting begins. We file the free edge in the direction your nail grows, buff the surface lightly, and seal the tip edge with every coat. Colour choice is yours, and we stock a rotating set of roughly forty shades in the studio and can order a specific bottle in if you send the name before you book.

We opened on George Street in 2018 with two chairs and a single UV lamp. Today there are four stations and a full appointment book, but the process has not changed: one technician per client from start to dry, no double-booking, nobody left sitting with wet nails waiting for attention.

Consult and shape
We look at your nail length, talk through what you want, and file the free edge before any product touches the nail.
Dry cuticle tidy
Cuticles are pushed back and trimmed without soaking, keeping the nail plate at its natural size so nothing lifts later.
Surface prep
A fine buffer removes shine from the top layer only, followed by a dehydrator wipe and a bond primer.
Base and colour
Two thin coats of flexible base, then two of colour, sealing the tip edge with each pass and curing between every layer.
Top coat and cure
A high-gloss top coat goes on last, cured for sixty seconds per hand under a calibrated LED lamp.
Oil and check
Cuticle oil goes on, we check each nail for evenness under daylight, and book your next visit if you want one.

Questions we get before booking
If yours is not here, ring the studio and ask. We answer between appointments.
Two to three weeks is typical, longer if your nails grow slowly. We do not promise four weeks because that is not honest for most people. A gap of new growth always appears at the cuticle, and that is what most clients come back for.
We file the top layer down and soak the rest in acetone wraps. Filing all the way through risks thinning the natural nail, and we have seen too many clients arrive with that damage from other salons to do it ourselves.
Yes, as long as the acrylic is sound. We will check for cracks or lifting first, because gel will not fix a structure that is already failing underneath.
There is a Wilson car park on George Street about ninety seconds from the door. After five on a weekday the rates drop, and all-day Saturday parking is roughly half the weekday cost.
Message us twenty-four hours ahead and there is no charge. Inside that window we take half the appointment fee, because the slot rarely fills at short notice.
